Property acquisition

and you

The NSW Government is investing billions of dollars in new infrastructure for our communities to improve the services that meet our needs. While every effort is made to reuse existing sites or state land, sometimes residents may have to relocate if their property is required for a project.

A new approach

Why we are doing things differently

Following a comprehensive review of property acquisition activities in NSW, the Government has introduced a series of reforms designed to make the process fairer, more transparent and with a renewed focus on the needs of the property owner.

How does it affect you?

The property acquisition process is designed to enable the government and other approved agencies to acquire private land for public purpose. If your home has been designated as a potential acquisition it can be a traumatic and stressful time. The purpose of the reforms is to make the process as supportive as possible by responding to individuals' circumstances and ensuring that you have all the information you need to make the best decisions for your future.
